Reviewing an abstract

What a SHODHX review invitation asks of you, and what happens to your scores and comments.

The invitation

  • Organisers invite you by the email of your SHODHX account, usually with a due date. You are notified by email and the invitation appears under Review tasks.
  • Before accepting, you see the title and the conference, not the abstract.

Accept or decline

  • To accept, confirm that you have no conflict of interest: for example, you are not an author, a close collaborator, a supervisor or student of an author, or a competitor on the same work.
  • If you have a conflict or no time, decline and give a short reason. Declining is always acceptable.
  • After you accept, the full abstract is shown. In a double-blind conference author names and affiliations are hidden from you.

Write the review

  1. Score five criteria from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent): originality, soundness of methods, support for the conclusions, clarity of writing and relevance to the conference.
  2. Recommend: accept for oral presentation, accept as poster, accept in either format, or reject.
  3. Write comments for the authors: specific and constructive, as you would want to receive them. Authors see these without your name.
  4. Use confidential comments for anything only the organisers should read, such as a suspected duplicate submission.

A submitted review is final and cannot be changed, so read it through before you submit.

Confidentiality

  • Treat the abstract as confidential: do not share it, cite it or use its unpublished results.
  • Do not paste it into AI tools or other services. SHODHX itself never sends manuscripts or reviews to AI services.
  • Authors never see your name, your scores or your confidential comments, and none of them appears in the abstract book.

Your invitations are under Review tasks. Questions about a review go to the conference organisers.
